Lucile

July 25th, 2010

This sweet girl is Lucile.  Lucile is a two year-old, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, Queensland Healer.  She weighs about 35 lbs. and is the ideal size for travel and controllability.  She is honestly one of the sweetest girls we have ever had.  Since arriving at our rescue, she has recruited Specker, a 2-year-old border collie, as her best friend and playmate.   She is terrific off-leash and will pretty much follow me anywhere.  She hasn’t had any accidents in the house and adds a generally positive vibe to our pack.  She loves truck rides, wrestling with her buddies, and following me around the rescue.

If you are interested in adopting Lucile, please contact Zach at 661-972-3852.

Thelma and Louise

July 25th, 2010

These two lovely ladies are Thelma and Louise (the human is my awesome neighbor girl, Rachel).  Thelma is spayed and about 1 year-old, with gorgeous, reddish brown coloring–almost orange at her mane.  Thelma also has piercing blue eyes that convey her precociousness.  We believe that Thelma is Louise’s daughter but we can’t be sure, as they don’t speak English and didn’t come with a biography.  Louise has brown eyes and more traditional Husky markings and is a real knock-out.  Louise definitely “carries the purse” in the relationship and Thelma seems to wait for advice from Louise before she makes any moves.

Louise has an appointment to be spayed this week and they have both been vaccinated.  They are wonderful around kids as well as other dogs and have fit in up here at the rescue like kids on a jungle gym.

THEY ARE AWESOME DOGS AND HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO ADD A TON OF PERSONALITY TO A WORTHY, LOVING HOME.

If you are interested in adopting Thelma or Louise, please contact Zach at 661-972-3852.

Chief’s Challenge

July 25th, 2010

Chief is an awesome, stray German shepherd that NEEDS OUR HELP.

Chief has a multitude of injuries/afflictions that urgently need to be addressed.  When he arrived at the Vet hospital, he had numerous, severely imbedded foxtails, a terrible skin condition, and grossly-infected eyes.  He could barely see, his fur was falling out and he couldn’t stop itching.  Chief’s teeth reveal that he is quite young (UNDER 1YEAR), but at first impression we thought he was much older.  Chief’s blood and scratch tests revealed that he is brutally allergic– good news is that it is very treatable.  His treatments will be extensive and lengthy, including injections and twice weekly soaking baths.  We can help and make happy this unfortunate doggy, but WE NEED YOUR HELP.

Donations can be made at the Tehachapi Vet. Hospital(661-822-6731) or through PayPal at the “Make A Donation” button to the right.

In Search of Loving Home

These two handsome doggies were found July 19th playing dodge car in front of the Shell station on the 202.  They appear to be Momma and Son (so we’ll call them Momma and Sonny) and are in very good shape.  Mom is about 4 and Sonny is about 2 years old–both unaltered–and Momma appears to have had puppies.  They are gorgeous dogs with classic German shepherd traits and aesthetics.

If we can’t find their owners, we will NEED TO FIND THEM NEW, LOVING HOMES.

If you know who these doggies belong to or are interested in possibly adopting one or both of them, please CONTACT ZACH at 661-972-3852.

Rosie Girl

July 22nd, 2010

This precious little munchkin is Rosie.  She is a 6 lb. (almost miniature), long-haired Chihuahua.  Rosie was a stray who moseyed herself up to a Good Samaritan at a gas station in Bakersfield.  It’s a good thing that she made herself noticed because, at 6 lbs., she would be easy prey and make a tasty snack.  She is definitely a love bug and wiggles her whole body when she gets excited.  She loves to burrow under the covers at bedtime and enjoys chillin’ on my lap when I’m at my desk or on the couch.  She loves all the other dogs up here (once they were told that she wasn’t breakfast) and has really shown herself to be a source of positive energy.  She is a joy to wake up next to and has an undeniably upbeat effect on me.  She is single-handedly forcing me to more optimistically consider the Chihuahua breed.

She has been vaccinated and is schedule for spay in a week.  If you are interested in adopting Rosie girl, please contact Zach at 661-972-3852.

Cowboy’s New Home

July 22nd, 2010

Zach,

Thank you so very, very much for helping us find ‘Cowboy’.  He is THE most amazing dog!  He is everything you described and so much more!  We have 2 other dogs (labradoodles) who were not quick to welcome Cowboy to their pack but he was patient and persevered.  Now they all play together.  Within a week, he was more protective than either of the other 2 dogs which we’ve had for 6 years.  He follows me everywhere!  Is so well behaved.  Super smart! Totally house trained!  Walks with us without a leash.  Comes when called.  No one can believe we have had him such a short time.  He is absolutely the perfect dog!  You were mistaken about one thing – you said he would not sleep in bed with my daughter.  He is such a snuggle muffin!  Loves it when he’s allowed on the bed!!!!!  (My daughter is very happy about that one misjudgement)

Kudos to you for all you do! I have the greatest respect and admiration for you and your work! You are my hero!
