Dixie is now 8 months old. Her mama is a small pit bull mix, and Dixie seems to have some lab and shepherd traits. This girl has been with us for about 6 months now, and while I have no qualms with having her at my house still (she is nearly perfect), she deserves a family of her own. She walks wonderfully on leash, is potty trained, dog door and crate trained, and takes treats with a gentle mouth. PLUS! she takes baths like a champ, doesn’t try to jump out and if I ask her to sit and stay, she does. We still have some ‘puppy mischief’ here and there, but she gets better on that every day. She has not been around cats, but I think with some proper introductions and training she would do fine. I have horses and she typically ignores them, but isn’t afraid to be around them either. She is great with kids and other dogs. In fact, she seems to understand my kids’ moods when they are playing, and will either play with them actively, or lay down next to them and just watch depending on what they want from her. She has mellowed out since being in foster care, for the most part is a very calm puppy, and occasionally has little spurts of energy and runs laps around the yard and chases her foster sisters. She will make a wonderful and loyal addition to a moderately to very active person or family. And seriously, if you are looking for a companion to take nice, peaceful walks with you, SHE IS THE ONE FOR YOU!!! I think she came pre-wired with leash training and manners.
