Thelma and Louise
Sunday, July 25th, 2010These two lovely ladies are Thelma and Louise (the human is my awesome neighbor girl, Rachel). Thelma is spayed and about 1 year-old, with gorgeous, reddish brown coloring–almost orange at her mane. Thelma also has piercing blue eyes that convey her precociousness. We believe that Thelma is Louise’s daughter but we can’t be sure, as they don’t speak English and didn’t come with a biography. Louise has brown eyes and more traditional Husky markings and is a real knock-out. Louise definitely “carries the purse” in the relationship and Thelma seems to wait for advice from Louise before she makes any moves.
Louise has an appointment to be spayed this week and they have both been vaccinated. They are wonderful around kids as well as other dogs and have fit in up here at the rescue like kids on a jungle gym.
THEY ARE AWESOME DOGS AND HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO ADD A TON OF PERSONALITY TO A WORTHY, LOVING HOME.
See a video of Thelma and Louise on YouTube.

Chief’s Challenge
Sunday, July 25th, 2010Chief is an awesome, stray German shepherd that NEEDS OUR HELP.
Chief has a multitude of injuries/afflictions that urgently need to be addressed. When he arrived at the Vet hospital, he had numerous, severely imbedded foxtails, a terrible skin condition, and grossly-infected eyes. He could barely see, his fur was falling out and he couldn’t stop itching. Chief’s teeth reveal that he is quite young (UNDER 1YEAR), but at first impression we thought he was much older. Chief’s blood and scratch tests revealed that he is brutally allergic– good news is that it is very treatable. His treatments will be extensive and lengthy, including injections and twice weekly soaking baths. We can help and make happy this unfortunate doggy, but WE NEED YOUR HELP.
Donations can be made at the Tehachapi Vet. Hospital(661-822-6731) or through PayPal at the “Make A Donation” button to the right.

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010Cowboy’s New Home
Thursday, July 22nd, 2010Zach,
Thank you so very, very much for helping us find ‘Cowboy’. He is THE most amazing dog! He is everything you described and so much more! We have 2 other dogs (labradoodles) who were not quick to welcome Cowboy to their pack but he was patient and persevered. Now they all play together. Within a week, he was more protective than either of the other 2 dogs which we’ve had for 6 years. He follows me everywhere! Is so well behaved. Super smart! Totally house trained! Walks with us without a leash. Comes when called. No one can believe we have had him such a short time. He is absolutely the perfect dog! You were mistaken about one thing – you said he would not sleep in bed with my daughter. He is such a snuggle muffin! Loves it when he’s allowed on the bed!!!!! (My daughter is very happy about that one misjudgement)
Kudos to you for all you do! I have the greatest respect and admiration for you and your work! You are my hero!
