Kiva, 1-year-old, spayed, Great Dane, is a breath-taking puppy girl who has had a rough adolescence, to say the least.  The folks she was rescued from had her ears twice operated on to make them more aesthetically pleasing.  The second surgery was at 7-months old, which is far too old to have ears cut on. T his experience has left her unsure of herself and a bit shaky around new people.  During our introduction she did very well and seems easy to take to a companion/owner who is assertive and confident.  She really is a lovable girl who needs an owner to nurture her. 

We will be working with her in the coming weeks and she will no doubt progress considerably.  Certain people and dogs frighten her and she needs an adopter who is aware of her insecurities and willing to work with her.  She has the potential to be the true love of your life if you possess the patience to work with her and be mindful.

This little guy is Westley.  He is a 9-month-old, 25 lb., tri-colored Cattle dog.   His big teeth are completely developed and he has a docked tail.  He has a terrific disposition that is far more refined than his age would suggest.  He gets along famously with other dogs and covets the attention of any human that will give it to him.   He has been vaccinated and is scheduled to be neutered later this month.

Westley is named for the West Ranch fire benefit that he was  found wandering alone at.  It has been a couple weeks since he showed up and nobody has come forward to claim him as of yet.  He is a very portable, convenient, mellow little guy who would make a superb family dog.  I should add that he would be the perfect companion for some little humans.

This priceless little 10 lb. gem is Ms. Mini Penny.  She is a 2-3 year-old, pure-bred miniature pinscher.  Ms. Mini Penny was found stray in the desert out in California City.  She is a pleasantly exuberant little gal who emits a positive vibe.  She has only been with us a short time but we are steadily falling in love with this one.  If she continues to go unclaimed, we will spay her next week and she will be ready to go to her new adoptive home.

She does very well with other creatures and has shown to be a generally well-rounded and very well-adjusted little
gal.  She is not a yapper and has not exhibited any terrific downfalls that we can tell.

Buddy is a Rottweiler cross who was found abandoned near Tehachapi.  He is a very sweet dog and loves to be loved on.  He is quick to learn, but it was apparent that in his earlier days he had absolutely no boundaries, so he is
having to learn a lot of new things.
He is good at walking on a leash and loves to take daily walks.  He sits for his dinner and doesn’t show any food aggression.  He takes treats nicely from your hand and tho’ he can be a bit over zealous at times, he is still very gentle
about it.  He has a puppy-like attitude towards people and thinks everyone is his friend.  He has been very good around children, making me think he had kids to play with at one time.  I would not say he is safe around cats. 

Buddy is house broken and is up to date on all his shots.  He is neutered and  chipped.  Buddy would love to find a forever home where he is the center of attention and can give back twofold the love he is given.

These precious love nuggets are true “Pound Puppies,” in every sense of the term.   Their mother and Father (Frankie and Faith) met while incarcerated at the California City Pound.  The two were mistakenly, or by necessity, kept in the same kennel and, as nature would have it, sought comfort in one another to help cope with the pressures of being locked-up.

We rescued Father and very pregnant Mother in July not long after, the puppies were born.  The puppies are 6 weeks old (as of 9/2/10) and have had their first puppy vaccinations.  Both mother and father are Chihuahua mixes, so we don’t anticipate the puppies to be any larger than 10 lbs. at maturity.  Their coloring is absolutely gorgeous and they are going to develop into very handsome doggies indeed.
