Emma is 3.5 years old, and my husband calls her the Marilyn Monroe of the Great Pyr world because she’s such a beautiful girl. Emma, or as we sometimes call her, Lou, is a gentle girl with a bit of spirit–she loves to run, and like most Pyrs, she must be kept in a fenced yard or she will go on walkabout until you bring the car ’round to pick her up. She sits on command and is quick to reach out and shake your hand in greeting. She is wonderful with cats. Our barn cat loves to stand on her and knead her. The kitty will even curl up and sleep
on top of her. While Emma’s great-grandfather was a working dog straight from Europe, Emma has become a bit gentrified, and she does prefer to be inside with her humans, especially in the heat of the summer day; she has not been raised as an LGD, and I do not think she’d enjoy being kept outside all the time, but she likes a a little variety in her day, so she does enjoy some outside time mingled with her indoors time.
She is quick to speak up and announce that the property is under her protection, but she has never growled at anyone and enjoys meeting new people. She came to our family when my youngest was not quite four years old, and she’s always been tolerant and sweet with my children and those who visit. She does like to dig
a good Pyr hole now and then; this hasn’t been a problem where we live, but I don’t want to misrepresent that she can and will do this. Her bark is loud but low, and our neighbors have never complained, but this might be different in a suburban setting. Emma is housebroken, but has never been fond of a crate. I trust her in the house, but I also know she’ll counter surf on occasion, so I may sure that yummy stuff is put away if I leave her inside while I’m out.
Emma is spayed and UTD on shots.

Merry Christmas Zach!!
Just an update on Cody. He is doing great. For an early Christmas gift, he received an XXL round bed with sides and a super soft fleece blanket!!! He’s not spoiled though!! What a super boy he is. He is a great companion for my 86 mother while I am away at work all day. Thank you so much for what you do.

This statuesque stud is T.J. and he is a neutered, 2½-year-old, 70 lb., German Shepherd mix. T.J. is all love and hugs, but when it comes to having a dog that you can feel protected by, he does the trick. T.J. has all of the qualities you want in a family dog: he is extremely lovable (will actually hug you if asked), is very loyal, minds very well, and packs a good bark to warn against potential threats. T.J. is great with other dogs and is pretty easy to handle. T.J. is an indoor/outdoor dog who loves to be inside with his family, but understands his job as the protector of hearth and home. T.J. would do very well with a family with kids and really just wants to be brushed, loved and fed. Along with all of the admirable qualities just listed, I nearly forgot to mention what a stud he is. This dog would win Best in Show if they had a Shepherd Mutt contest.

This boy was found, wandering stray, on the railroad tracks. When the Good Samaritans brought him to me, I said “I don’t take rabbits, why don’t you try the Pet Lodge.” They swore to me that it was not a mongoloid rabbit and is, in fact, a type of dog called “Basset Hound.” I didn’t believe them until I heard him bark and then watched him pee on my truck tire. “Okay,” I said, “we’ll bring him up to the rescue.” I have since named him Benjamin Buford Blue (or Bubba) and discovered that he is indeed a 10-month-old Basset Hound. It was pretty shocking to see how neglected he was–severely underweight and unloved. He gets plenty of love now but started to show signs of severe separation anxiety, i.e. howling and panic barking. We have since dealt with those issues and he is just your garden-variety Basset Hound now. It’s hard to believe that someone is not looking for him and could have neglected him to the degree that he was, but nothing really surprises me anymore. Our boy is scheduled for neuter next week.
