This colossal canine is Constantine (aka C-Lo) and he is a 1-2 year old, 120 lb. St. Bernard. We rescued C-Lo from the Bakersfield Animal Shelter where he had come down with an illness and was not doin’ so hot. Some dogs just don’t react well to shelter living and begin to show signs of illness, i.e. vomiting, excessive salivating and no appetite. Well, it turns out C-Lo was just scared and out of his element because, since he had been up here with the mutts, he has thrived. His appetite has returned and he literally “grins” all the time. He is a massive, playful boy whose zest for life has definitely returned to him. We have had many Saints up here and, while he is not our biggest (close to it), he is definitely our most uniquely patterned. He has a soft coat and is mostly white, which provides for a beautiful aesthetic. Constantine exudes positive energy which he transmits effortlessly to people; in fact, it’s impossible to spend time with him and NOT leave with a huge smile on your face. He does very well with our other dogs although very small dogs may have a tough time with him because he enjoys playing and is still a boy who is unaware of his strength. Constantine has an appointment to be neutered next week and will be ready for adoption.

If you are interested in adopting Constantine, please contact Zach at 661-972-3852 or 661-821-1327.

Dear Zach, Andy, and the rest of the Pack,

Life is good! After a week here, I’ve decided to stay.

These last seven days have been very busy, and I have had many car rides and walks. I got shots. I got a bath. I went to the vet. He gave me an exam and tested my blood. He said I was healthy and sweet. He cleaned my teeth (and even pulled one), and he also took off that thing on my eye. I feel like a new dog starting a new life! I’ve taken my boys to and from school, and watched them at soccer practice. I really love being around kids! Through all of this activity, I’ve had two really great boys to play with me and love on me, a new mom and dad to take care of me and feed me, and a new dog sister to teach me the ropes. Mulligan has been especially welcoming, and so it’s been easy to get used to this new life. I’ve been able to show them all of the cool things that I can do, like go potty outside, sleep in my bed at night, behave myself when left at home, sit, shake, come, and respond to “No” (which I haven’t had to do too much). Also, I even respond to my new name, “Decade.” I think it’s pretty cool because I’ve finished one decade and started a new one.

Thank you for taking such good care of me since my other family left me. I wondered why I wasn’t getting adopted when other dogs in the Pack were, but now I know why. I needed to wait until my new family was ready. I am so happy and content. You all have a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to come and visit you sometime soon.

Here are some pictures of me in my new life.

Looks like Sancho is in for a lifetime of belly rubs!

Hi Zack,

This is Tracy, Bryon and Natasha Bullock. Last year you helped us out on a 5-month-old puppy we saved from the Cal Cty pound when we were working there. He got Parvo 18 days later and was VERY ILL. He is a survivior, thanks your help.

I am giving you some update photos of him. He is just the smartest little thing and so funny.

Have a great day and keep in touch. Your’re doing good with your pups I saw on your site. Great work!

Tracy

Love at first sight!

Hello there Zach and Team,

A little update on Mr. Zieger, He is doing great and I can’t be happier with his temperment with the kids and his bull-headed-but-willing-to-learn personality.  He had his first drive down to the beach this weekend and did awesome in the  car. We headed to Del Mar to its dog beach.  Zieger was puzzled at first, but did great in the sand and in shallow water. I was very happy how he interacted with all the dogs.

I dont know how his life was before we got him, but I am pretty sure he never slept in a bed.  Well, he does now and I don’t think there is any going back! He is a great cuddle buddy.

There is one thing we did find out that you never wrote about or made us aware of: THIS DOG IS A FARTER!  OMG. The sad part is I have gotten used to them and can’t really smell them anymore.

Thank you for doing what you do and thank you for letting this guy into our lives, We promise to stay in touch and keep sending you pics of his advertures.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Mandy Garrett

Smiles all the way around!

Dear Zach & Andy,

I don’t even need to explain what an amazing boy Nelson is, because he is so loved by the both of you & with good reason! We decided to call him “Rush” & I thought it should be short for “Rushmore” since he’s as tall as a mountain & would fit right in with his gorgeous face carved into the side of one! He has already changed our lives for the better in 24 hours & we are grateful that you chose us to be his family. He’s already a Mama’s Boy (one of 3) & has made himself quite comfy on our bed already! Words cannot express how much we appreciate this great gift you have given our family, thank you for saving his life. I will be emailing you some pictures this week of our adoption day & a few other random moments. He’s already had a bike ride & a play date with his cousin Chloe who is a yellow lab & they were like peas & carrots. I will be in touch & thank you again for our sweet gentle giant.

Annie
