Lucky Stanfield family of Bear Valley get to give this lucky cutie-pie a lifetime of love.

This adorable little whippersnapper is Kermit and he is a Golden Retriever mix. We rescued Kermit from the Bakersfield Animal Shelter where he could have met an unpleasant demise. Thankfully, Kermit, and his sister, Sasha, are now at Marley’s Mutts. The first day for Kermit was a little scary–he and his sister just huddled as close to one another as possible, shaking, as if in shock. I was pleasantly surprised when on day two, I found them playing in their huge water bowl, having a puppy water fight. They were drenched and they had eaten all of their food, which made me one happy dog rescuer. They get funnier and more comfortable with each passing day. Recently, they were trying to tag-team wrestle against Marley, who was not in the mood to entertain two boisterous children. Marley let out one loud “RRRRUUUUUFFFFFF,” which just about peeled their ears back and sent them diving underneath the porch. They learned Marley’s Mutts rule #1: Don’t mess with the big guy if he’s not in the mood! Kermit is a little confused by life, as you can tell by his expression, but his precocious nature and sense of wonder make him that much more adorable. Kermit has had his shots and has been wormed and is ready to ride off in to the sunset.

This strapping little guy is Princeton and, although the intensity of his eyes could lead you to think he is part Lemur, we think he is actually a Miniature Pinscher. Princeton is definitely Ivy League–he was actually found at Jacobsen Middle School. He came inside, sat down and acted like he was there to learn. After seeing this, the staff and kids couldn’t just let him go to Animal Control, so one of the girls brought him home and the rest is Marley’s Mutts history. Princeton has the look of a Min Pin but is just a little thicker—not so dainty. Many Min Pins look as though they are just waiting to break a leg but that’s not the case with Princeton. Princeton is just a proper little guy who is getting better at life each day. From walking on a leash to housetraining, Princeton has got the hang of it. Princeton has an appointment for neuter next week and will be brought up to code with his vaccinations.

I don’t know who is luckier: Pellet or this family!

Hi Zach -

Judy (now Shelbee) is adjusting very well. She has definitely made herself at home. She and Tanner are quickly becoming best buds. She was a little bit timid of him at first, but now she is getting more playful each day. She loves to go to the park down the street and goes full out playing fetch. Her eating has improved and she is now eating only dry food without any problems. She’s a total sweetheart and is definitely getting spoiled with lots of treats, belly rubs and love.

Thank you for the opportunity to give her a loving home. She has made a wonderful addition to our family.

Thank you,

Coree and Jeff
(Tanner and Shelbee too!!!)

Happy to be going home with his new family, Gilbert settles right in and makes himself at home!

This tri-colored sweetheart is Daisy-girl and she is a 1-½ year-old border collie/Australian shepherd mix. For Daisy and me, it was love at first sight. Since the day she arrived, she has been attached to my hip, which includes sleeping in my bed and making the rounds in town. She does everything well: rides well, listens well, performs off-leash very well and doesn’t hog the covers or move much in her sleep. She has a docked tail and is the size of a border collie but doesn’t try to herd or nip. She is extremely well-behaved and even when she gets excited, she’s easy to calm down and isn’t really a nuisance. She also isn’t a flight risk seeing as how she has never attempted to jump our 4-½ ft fence. Daisy-girl would do very well in a home with children and other dogs (possibly even cats). She does need exercise and would flourish in a home that could provide that (she makes an excellent hiking partner).

Meet Sir Gilbert Armstrong, a 6-year-old, Neapolitan Mastiff. Gilbert has shot his way up to the top of the all-time favorite dog list overnight. What’s not to like about him? He’s huge, he’s extremely lovable (to people and pets), and he has the most unique aesthetic of any dog we’ve had. I rescued this fawn-colored fellow from the Bakersfield pound where he was essentially rotting. They did a great job treating his wounds until we could pick him up. At time of rescue, he was about 25 lbs. underweight and his muscles had atrophied a bit. He has been eating like a pig ever since and his balance and stamina have greatly improved. He loves going for off-leash walks around town or up here in the mountains. Unlike most Neos, he is not overly protective and seems perfectly content with whatever his surroundings may be. He is a huge hit where ever we go, and could make your family famous as well. If you are interested in adopting Sir Gilbert Armstrong, please contact Zach at 661-972-3852 or email zach@marleysmutts.com.

The Villanueva family and Satchel … they all look pretty happy, don’t they? But it’s tough to say goodbye.
