Murphy

July 21st, 2010

Hi Zach,

Just sharing a picture of our boy with you.  Let me just tell you that he is a bundle of joy and a blast to be around with. Thank you so much for all  that you have done for him.

PS:  I took him to the vet last month because crazy boy decided to take a mouth full of foxtails and one got stuck in his throat…long story short, the gals at the vet couldn’t believe it was the same Murphy that you had taken in at the
beginning of the year…kudos to you once again on your brilliant work.

Tater

July 20th, 2010

This handsome, young gentleman is Tater.  We used to refer to him as “Tater Tot,” but we feel that he has matured beyond the “Tot” stage.  He is a 50 lb., 1-year-old, Collie mix.  He is a Tehachapi stray who luckily wound up at the Tehachapi Veterinary Hospital instead of dead by the side of the road.   He was absolutely teaming with burrowed fox tails (some of them mildly ulcerated) and it seemed he may have to be shaved.  The crew at TVH has got a variety of skills and was able to remove every foxtail without shaving him.  He now boasts a stylish, robust coat that is the envy of the rest of the dogs at the hospital.  He has been at the hospital for the last month healing up and learning how to be a dog.  Tater has been neutered, completely vaccinated and is well on his way to being completely housebroken.  Tater has a very tame, happy demeanor and is ready to try out his life skills at his new, forever home.  If you are thinking about giving Tater a shot, please contact Zach at 661-972-3852 or Pam at the Tehachapi Vet. Hospital.

Frankie

July 16th, 2010

This little marvelous munchkin is Frankie.  Frankie, and his girlfriend Faith, were rescued from the Cal City Pound.  The Cal City Pound is hot, diseased, deafeningly loud and an overall nasty place to be incarcerated.  It is over-populated (mostly with pit bulls) and is not the place you want to end up if you are interested in a future.  We normally don’t recue Chihuahua’s but after one look at Frankie (and Faith), we knew he had to be saved from that place.  Frankie is about 3 years old,  and seems to exude gratitude.  We’ve had him neutered, micro chipped and completely vaccinated. He gets along very well with dogs of all sizes, ages and demeanors not to mention people.  FRANKIE IS A LAP DOG.  IF FRANKIE’S FEET NEVER TOUCHED THE GROUND AGAIN, HE WOULD BE COOL WITH THAT.  It’s not that he can’t walk; he just loves the affection of humans and prefers to be snuggled up with one.

If you are interested in adopting Frankie, please contact  Zach at 661-972-3852.

Specker

July 16th, 2010

“Spectacular Specker”

This brave, 2-ish-year-old Border collie is Specker II.  If dogs could talk, or better yet write, this post would be a novel.  It would describe an existence fraught with adversity, peril, dangerous adversaries, starvation and destitution.  The best word to describe Specker II’s life before arriving at our rescue is STRUGGLE.

His struggle had left him shrouded in injury.  He had more ticks than I have ever seen on a dog (we’re talking thousands of them), including several imbedded nests where new ticks were hatching.  Specker’s body, from snout to tail, consisted of a combination of coagulated blood and fox tails.  He had dozens of ill-healed lacerations which most likely were the result of wild encounters with raccoons, skunks and possibly other dogs.  Specker was also severely emaciated; probably 20 lbs. underweight.  He is very lucky to be alive!  Specker’s struggle ended when he emerged from the wild, white flag of surrender in paw, at the home of the venerable Vespa’s.  They began treatment and
quickly contacted us.  Specker’s struggle, as he knows it, has come to an end but his incredible journey has just begun.

Specker needs a loving family now and we aim to find him just that.  He is a spectacular young doggy, who surprisingly so, shows no ill effects from his long and treacherous expedition.  He loves other dogs and is very quick to adore any human willing to reciprocate affection.  If you are interested in adopting this very special dog, please contact Zach at 661-972-3852.

Sir Charles Gomez

July 9th, 2010

This lucky shepherd is named Sir Charles Gomez–don’t ask about the name just know that it fits him.

Charley was found in the middle of the night, just off the 58. Sir Charles had more ticks on him than any other dog I’ve known:  ticks on his eye lids and in his ears.  Charley is tick free now and boasts a very healthy coat.  He has been ormed and vaccinated and will be neutered next week  (July12).

He is very docile and has been lovingly accepted into the pack.  Charley is a quick learner and is steadily getting the hang of things up here, including house training.  Sir Charles Gomez has never had human attention before and therefore loves every minute of his new life.  He soaks up love like a SHAM-WOW, and is great at reciprocating.

If you are interested in giving this awesome dog a second chance at life, please contact Zach at 661-972-3852.

Kaiser Sozei

July 9th, 2010

Meet KAISER SOZEI, a 3-year-old Rottweiler. My first impression of this dog was WOW!! His beauty and stature command immediate respect.

Kaiser Sozei was found near Keene, with his border collie girl friend, both very dirty and hungry.  His girl friend was quickly adopted but Kaiser is having a tough time because people misunderstand his breed.  He is a stunningly handsome dog with striking features including a gorgeous, full coat, and very strong, prominent bone structure.  But don’t let his daunting appearance fool you; he is quite the teddy bear. He does well with other dogs but may assert dominance if necessary.  He is great with horses, likes truck rides, but utterly loves his daily walks.  He is terrific on a leash and is effortless to control. He sits and stays when asked and is thoroughly house trained.  Kaiser is going to make a competent, loving family/master ecstatic with pride.
