He’s a Brick…S…House!

We added an immediate favorite to our crew today- Brick is his name and he’s a 1-2 year old Lab cross (maybe some bully breed in there). The outstanding crew at the Tehachapi Vet Hospital named him Brick because, well, he’s built like a Brick s#$t house. His temperament is LOVELY. He has cast a spell on everybody he’s met which includes the wonderful Officer Julie Sugg, who brought him in, and the entire staff that has been treating his broken leg at the vet. Officer Sugg went out on a limb to help save this dog and we’re grateful that she thought to give us a buzz rather than take him to KCAC. People don’t realize it but Animal Control Officers are some of the most compassionate people I know and Julie, in particular, was a driving force behind pushing me to become a rescuer! So Julie found Brick after he had obviously been hit by a car and suffered a broken leg. He broke his radius only, not his ulna, and he should be as good as new after 6 weeks in the cast. You’ve got to meet this boy to fully appreciate how genuinely happy, yet mellow and trainable he really is. He doesn’t react in the slightest to other dogs at the vet (although they have tried to pick fights with him) and has been a perfect resident while at the Tehachapi Vet Hospital. He’s been neutered, vaccinated and his break is a simple one that won’t cause any lingering effects. I’m happy that the Old Team- Kern County Animal Control, Tehachapi Veterinary Hospital and Marley’s Mutts — have come together to save another busted up stray! Way to go gang, now let’s get this boy a foster home so that he can hop on the road to adoption!
